Here's how to customize your own perfect Excel:

1. Open an existing spreadsheet. Check the formatting and any formulas.
2. Control the data. Data--Validation to restrict others can enter.
3. Get Protection. Select cells users can enter data into, then FORMAT--CELLS, CLICK protection taab. Deselect Locked. Next, choose TOOLS--PROTECTION--PROTECT SHEET.

4. Save the template.
5. Use the template. FILE--NEW. Look under Templates...
